Does fitting an aligner hurt?
Most patients feel tightness or mild pressure for the first few days after each new set. This feeling usually subsides quickly and you can continue your daily activities as usual.
How long does aligner treatment take?
It depends on your case. The dentist will give a duration estimate after assessing your tooth alignment. Mild cases are usually faster than more complex ones.
Do I need a retainer after aligner treatment?
Yes. A retainer is important to maintain tooth position so they don’t gradually shift back (relapse) after treatment ends.
How many hours a day do I need to wear the aligner?
For good results, an aligner usually needs to be worn throughout the day (day and night) and only removed while eating or brushing. The dentist will give specific guidance based on your case.
Is an aligner suitable for everyone?
An aligner is most suitable for mild to moderate cases such as gapped or mildly overlapping teeth. Complex cases may need braces or other treatment. An examination is needed to determine the most suitable option for you.
Can I eat normally while wearing an aligner?
Yes. One advantage of an aligner is that it can be removed while eating and drinking, so there are no food restrictions like with braces. Put it back on after brushing your teeth.
